Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! I'm absolutely delighted. I just emailed you by responding to your welcome email from my subscription to The Fry Corner, and I hope that note finds its way to you.
Haha the Dune novels are pretty NC17 especially the last couple in the original 6... so at least, definitely not child appropriate. I love it so much (I was reading #17 when I wrote this piece and now I'm currently on my 21st Dune novel, so getting close to the point where I'll be impatiently waiting years for the next one to come out). But I do sometimes wonder whether I should spend my finite existence reading more Tolstoy instead...
Wonderful! Your essay immediately brought to mind the section entitled "Children" in Tolkien's classic essay "On Fairy-Stories."
Oh I haven't read that! I need to track it down now.
Excellent !

Only thing I disagree with here is categorizing Dune as being at all 'childish things'. Epic Cycle it is not, but one for the ages it very much is.
REALLY dig what you do here. It's giving me ideas...

I'm not a fan of "should". Read whatever strikes your fancy, unless someone is paying you to do otherwise.
